Ronnie Jiang from Medan, in the north of the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, began her artistic career as a Painter in 2013, after working as a fashion designer. In her series entitled "Figurative Destructuralism", the former fashion designer focuses on the evolution of form and the destructuring of bodies and faces. Inspired by Cubism, she creates compositions in which the joyful anatomy is constructed and deconstructed, with geometrised but still realistic carnal fragments. In her work, cartoon characters mingle with faces or body parts, forming new creatures that are disfigured, strange and imposing. These juxtapositions open up the possibility of a new story, which Ronnie deconstructs to reconstruct and discover new forms and stories.
